Both Mill Creek Jeweler owners are pleased to go to work each day in their new store. They spent years living within the store layout as purchased 17 years ago. Now it is fully their place where they feel so comfortable working in it each day. Their sales are also up from the previous year even during our construction! Not a single negative comment has been made from clients and employees. The entire community has expressed pleasure out of the transformation. As one client said, "It's Tiffany's except for warm and welcoming." This compliment was exactly the goal we had for this hometown jeweler's store branding!

Practical matters were designed into the space and security within their "bullpen." Dark brown wood with red highlights brightly lighted was designed to show off the sparkle of their jewelry with a brilliance greater than their present honey oak cabinets. We redesigned their present aqua blue rolling benches on both sides of their viewing cases making sure they still fit under the newly designed cases comfortably for customers & employees.

Our innovative problem solving created the best dressed safe in the country with wallpaper! We also found a structural design innovation for our floating glass shelves on their featured wall displaying the weight bearing and depth requirements needed for their products.

Attention to details included a cashier counter top that feels warm to the touch yet easy to write upon. It is made of cutting edge infused sunflower shells in gray and tan flecks. The warm welcoming personalities of the owners have been reflected even in the materials we chose.

Attention to personalizing each design project included creating the shape of their hometown state in the innovative slate-like wallpaper upon installation.

Attention to details included the back office. How did they use their space? What kind of drawers versus cupboards for their work usage? What workstations were needed to do what kind of work? What then were the lighting requirements in those areas? Could they see their clients entering from their back office yet provide privacy for lunch breaks and focused work when needed? Though in the tightest corner where the safe and restroom was, we created a design that allowed them to face the clients coming into their store from their SE corner. We eliminated the peep holes that they were talking to their clients through and opened them up to their clients without loosing their security needs. The surprise here was how a good design economized their personnel security needs as well! See "Before and Afters" film.

Attention to their world outside their store included improved window display cases and lighting for displaying to the sidewalk and auto traffic. Our new cabinetry design also eased their daily display routines. Their lighting around their featured display wall now glows at dusk and during cloudy days attracting people to come into their store out of curiousity! We also attended to the details of their customer traffic flow within their store starting with what door customers come in most and where they like to head for first. We included spaces for their customers to sit and wait comfortably in bar stools while gazing at jewelry.

With a beautiful redesign it wasn't complete without taking down the two exterior store signs and giving the store exterior beauty as well! One was a red lighted sign that was deteriorating. The sign around the corner was a wood sandblasted sign. Now the two signs match. The signs are lightweight even though they are sprayed with an innovative metal called Lumin-ore. We custom designed the lettering which matched their new business card identity with gold on bronze patina background.

What building regulations required them to have unsightly items and how could we recede them into the design? What inherent building structure problems were there that required on the spot design changes? What surprises that were uncovered during demolition required on the spot design solutions? We built beauty into the space design using lights, color, texture, and curves. As the season of celebrating their Grand Opening Party quickly changed into Christmas, the store transformed beautifully into the new season.
